8th Grade PE Project

Physical Education Project 8th Grade

Objective: Students will be able to create a book containing all activities completed during physical education time including essential skills to the activity, specific cues to be successful in each skill, an athlete from the activity, and a team from the activity.

How: Each day during class, students will use a loose leaf paper detailing the activity and specific skills used. By the end of the marking period, students will have completed skills in basketball, football, floor hockey, physical fitness, and “long-ball (modified kickball).” The student must describe the skill using at least 3 specific cues (Example: Soccer pass: Plant non-kicking foot next to the ball towards the target, use the inside or outside of foot, and follow through towards the target). Students will then need to do research about specific athletes and teams involved in the sport. When finished, students will combine papers to make a book for physical education.

    • Basketball
      • 4 skills with minimum of 3 specific skill cues for each
      • 1 basketball player-What team is he/she on? When did he/she play? Give a minimum of 3 interesting facts about the player
      • 1 team-Is the team collegiate or professional? Where is the team from? What was the team’s record this year? Who is their best player? Who is their coach? When was the last time they won the championship? Who is the team’s biggest rival?

Research will be done outside of the classroom. Research can be done by utilizing the internet, newspapers, magazines, books, and asking adults such as teachers, guardians, or coaches.
